GreenKeys
GreenKeys is an email discussion list devoted to older radio teletype gear — mechanical teleprinters, terminal units, paper tape, and everything else related to TTY and RTTY. It is the primary active community for teletype collectors, restorers, and enthusiasts worldwide, and has been running continuously for many years.
If you own a teletype machine, want to own one, are trying to restore one, or simply want to learn more about the history and technology of teleprinters, GreenKeys is where the conversation happens. The list is active, friendly, and knowledgeable — members range from newcomers to people who worked professionally on this equipment decades ago.
Selected GreenKeys messages also appear on the AUTOSTART channel of ITTY, where they are broadcast in authentic Baudot RTTY for anyone listening.
Topics Covered
The list is not a “contest” reflector — it is dedicated to
the mechanical and historical side of RTTY.
ITTY & GreenKeys
ITTY was founded by GreenKeys members and grew directly out of the community’s shared interest in keeping the wire alive. The AUTOSTART channel broadcasts selected GreenKeys messages in authentic Baudot RTTY, so that teletype machines around the world can print community discussion just as they once printed AP and UPI wire copy.
To submit content to ITTY, use RTTYMailer — available on the Resources page.
